Hinphey's late heroics snatch final spot from Royals' grasp
THIRTEEN-MAN Derry launched a smash-and-grab raid in the dying moments to wrench a final berth from Meath's grasp in Navan on Saturday.
Meath led by 1-15 to 0-12 with four minutes remaining but a brace of Kevin Hinphey goals broke their hearts and booked a decider clash against Kerry for the Oak Leafers, who had Liam Hinphey and Cathal Brunton sent off. Meath's Kevin Keena saw red after the break
The hosts led by 0-10 to 0-7 at the break and when sub Noel Kirby netted early in the second half, they looked destined to land the spoils. But Derry's stunning late spree denied them.
