Hennelly swings it for Gabriel's

St Gabriel's 3-16 Brothers Pearse 2-5

LONDON SHC FINAL

St Gabriel's retained their title in style after producing a storming second-half performance at Ruislip.

The Wembley-based club powered to victory in the final 20 minutes, hitting an unanswered 3-7.

Wing-forward Ger Hennelly turned the contest on its head with two goals in as many minutes midway through the second period, and the powerful midfield combination of PJ Rowe and Eoin Kelly helped ensure a 16th title win.

Brothers Pearse played with a strong breeze in the first half and led by 2-3 to 0-6 at the interval after Paul Egan's free from his own 65-metre line somehow found its way past opposite number John Grealish.

But their defence crumbled with 20 minutes to go. Hennelly fired to the bottom corner and then netted again less than two minutes later. Gabriel's had all the momentum and Martin Finn's maximum put the gloss on the victory in injury-time.
