Hannigan puts Donegal on road to revenge

Donegal got their league campaign off to a great start with an easy victory over Monaghan in Letterkenny.

Monaghan led early by 0-3 to 0-1 thanks to the accuracy of Michael McHugh, but once Stephen Boyle got Donegal's opening goal, the home side never looked back and a second goal shortly after half-time from Paddy Hannigan put them on their way.

Sean McVeigh was outstanding for Donegal, who were avenging a first-round defeat by the Farney men in Clones last year. With outstanding scorer Niall Campbell retired, Lee Henderson took over the free-taking mantle for the winners, who had good performances also from Paul Sheridan, Danny Cullen and Jamesie Donnelly.
