Hanniffy the Birr hero again

Birr 2-9 Coolderry 1-11 Offaly SHC final BIRR came from four points down to clinch their 20th county hurling title in a replay on Saturday at St Brendan's Park.

A 47th-minute goal by Barry Larkin saw Coolderry go 1-11 to 1-7 ahead, but Gary Hanniffy, hero in the drawn game, reignited the champions with a goal. Stephen Brown scored the equaliser before Paul O'Meara sent over the decisive point.

A Sean Ryan goal helped Birr to an interval lead of 1-5 to 0-7, but Coolderry scored 1-3 without reply to set up the finale.
