CLONMEL and Castletroy shared the spoils at Golden.
There was drama towards the end as Castletroy believed John Stack's late shot, which was flagged wide, had in fact gone over the bar.
A point then would have put the Limerick outfit two clear but, with the final play of the game, Clonmel secured their second successive draw in their debut Cup season.
Kevin Guiry's long-range effort had Castletroy goalkeeper Cian O'Dwyer in all sorts of bother as he backpedalled towards goal.
The white flag was raised to signal a point but some Clonmel observers reckoned the sliotar had gone under and not over the bar, as O'Dwyer ended up in the net, and that a goal should have been given.
A draw was arguably a fair result, although Castletroy were left to rue a tally of 11 wides.
They were the better team in the first half and led by 0-6 to 0-4 at the break, but it could have been more as seven wides were racked up in the opening period.
Two points down at the interval was a wholly acceptable scenario for Clonmel, who turned with the breeze for the second half.
In a game where scores were at a premium and slippery conditions made life difficult, Clonmel were reliant on the free-taking of Conor Gleeson, with five of his seven points coming from placed balls.
Guiry and Ross Mulcahy, a member of Tipp's minor footballers this year, were Clonmel's other scorers. Free-taker Edward Doyle was Castletroy's leading scorer as his side collected their first point of the campaign, following an opening-round loss to Ardscoil Rís.
