Glynn works magic in Glenealy romp

Glenealy 2-13
Carnew 0-9
Wicklow SHC Final

The title changed hands yet again at Aughrim yesterday as Glenealy defeated their arch rivals and defending champions Carnew.

Carnew and Glenealy have been dominating the hurling scene in Wicklow over the past decade, with the crown changing hands almost year on year throughout the noughties.

Thomas Doyle was the inspirational player for the Reds at wing-forward, but it was dual star Leighton Glynn who delivered the crucial sucker punches that floored Carnew and ended their hopes of retaining their title.

Just a week earlier, Glynn had powered Rathnew footballers to another title and he was equally effective for Glenealy hurlers as he once again scored 2-2.

Glenealy -- 1-8 to 1-6 ahead at the break -- were the better team overall, with Doyle giving a five-star performance and Ger Devlin on fire at wing-back.
