CAMOGIE : TIPPERARY'S year finished on a high note on Monday when Ciara Gaynor clinched the Eircell Vodafone player of the year award.
A daughter of Tipp's famed Len Gaynor, Ciara broke many a heart this past season with some sterling performances at centre-back.
Tipperary opened the season last February in the National League against Cork. By the time the championship began, it was clear to most that Ciara had an unbelievable hunger for success.
In particular, she gave the Cork back-room team a rather difficult time during the All-Ireland semi-final drawn game between the two counties.
On that occasion, the Leesiders had to shuffle their full-forward line to try and stop the elusive Gaynor from gaining further control of the game.
Ciara is one of the great ambassadors of the game. As well as representing her county on the pitch, she has often featured on television and radio with great ease and natural humour.
