Gaffney's huge haul can't save Cavan

Fermanagh 2-14
Cavan 2-12

Fermanagh obtained the bragging rights after narrowly winning this local derby. Cavan entered the game as favourites and started well with their centre half-forward Bernard Gaffney in fine form.

Gaffney was to register all but one of his team's scores (2-11) over the 70 minutes but after he had propelled Cavan into an early eight-point lead with a goal and six points Fermanagh finally woke up. Driven on by Shea Curran, John Duffy and Ryan Bogue, Fermanagh bossed the last 50 minutes of the game and Paul McGoldrick and Sean Corrigan bagged second-half goals to put them four points up at one stage.

Gaffney and Cavan weren't done, though, and another goal revived the Breffni men but Fermanagh closed the game out with points from Curran and McGoldrick.
