Flynn double sinks champions

Mercy Colleges 3-9 Portumna CS 1-7

Jason Flynn scored a goal in each half as a wonderful performance from Mercy Colleges dethroned champions Portumna CS and earned a place in the final.

Gearoid Loughnane got Mercy Colleges off to a flyer with a shot that raised the green flag from a distance of 45m inside the first minute.

After the excellent Ronan O'Meara hit four points in a row to get Portumna right back into the contest, Flynn, amazingly, goaled from another long-range free to give Mercy a 2-4 to 0-5 lead at the break.

Jack Brien hit the net for Portumna to draw them level by the 43rd minute, but last year's runners-up accelerated clear late on and Flynn poked home his second goal in added time to crown a wonderful display.
