This game sparked into life in the closing stages.

Trailing by six points at half-time, Fermanagh looked completely flat as midfield general Cathal Mullane and chief instigator Eoin Donnellan were in fine form for the blue and gold.

Donnellan took full advantage of Fermanagh's indiscipline to hit six fine first-half points.

Fermanagh's problems got worse minutes into the second half when they were reduced to 14 men, as Matthew Teague saw red following an altercation with Declan Tanner.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, the visitors played their way back into the contest.

Martin Beggan provided just the tonic in the 50th minute when he netted the game's first goal. The second came 10 minutes later, Francis McBrien finishing off a glorious move.

Fermanagh's Ryan Bogue then saw red with eight minutes left. But the Erne men refused to lie down and a late free from Sean Corrigan sealed Longford's fate.
