Fennelly back in frame for Cats
Former hurler of the year Michael Fennelly is back in the frame for a place on the Kilkenny team to play Dublin in the Leinster championship in Portlaoise on Sunday.
The Ballyhale Shamrocks midfielder-cum-attacker has played a full part in training at Nowlan Park and he could be set for a surprise recall.
Fennelly was wearing a surgical boot on the left ankle he injured in a club game some weeks ago when the Cats opened their campaign with a shaky start against Offaly.
Afterwards team manager Brian Cody suggested that Sunday's semi-final might come too early for Fennelly, but the player has made quick progress and is now a contender for a place on the team.
Fennelly went over on his ankle minutes from the end of Shamrocks' league clash against Clara on May 17.
Meanwhile, Henry Shefflin, who also wore a surgical boot in Tullamore, has cast aside the apparatus and is back jogging.
