Dwyer puts Castlecomer on course
A scoring blast of 1-2 during the five minutes leading up to the break put Castlecomer CS on the road to victory and a place in the semi-finals.
The losers were holding their own against the wind in the first half and six minutes before the break were adrift by only three points 1-6 to 1-3).
However, Castlecomer full-forward Charles Dwyer then punished a momentary lack of concentration when he lashed a 20-metre free into the net. That was followed by points from Donal Shore and Luke Maher to carry the winners into an interval lead of 2-8 to 1-4.
Castlecomer, with Dwyer scoring well, quickly caught hold of the game on the restart and never looked like being caught.
