Dublin's year passed over
DUBLIN are arguably the third best hurling team in the country. They were beaten, narrowly, in the All-Ireland hurling semi-final by Tipperary, defeated Kilkenny in the National League final and lost the Leinster final to the same opposition.
And yet a return of just two -- goalkeeper Gary Maguire and midfielder Liam Rushe -- on the hurling All Star team is a poor reflection on Dublin's year.
More and more it seems that the benchmark for the hurling selectors is one game in September so readily are the league, Munster and Leinster championships and All-Ireland qualifiers dismissed.
