Dublin's history-making hurlers welcomed the decision to bring the Allianz National League Division 1 final - their first in 65 years - to Croke Park on Sunday week.

"With two Leinster teams involved, this is the ideal venue for players and fans alike," said Dublin chairman Andy Kettle.

"I know Thurles is the traditional 'home of hurling' but this is a very unusual pairing for a Division 1 final and Croke Park is a home from home for Kilkenny too. It should attract a great crowd."

Cavan football also got a big boost yesterday as the Cadbury's All-Ireland U-21 football final between the Breffni County and Galway will act as the curtain-raiser, with a 2.0 throw-in followed by the big hurling decider at 4.0.

Clare's hurlers have also got a lucky break, as Limerick agreed to toss for the venue for hurling's Division 2 final and the Banner won. Their all-Munster Division 2 NHL final will take place in Ennis at 7.0 on Saturday, April 30.
