Dowling accuracy enough for Fergal's

St Fergal's 1-11 Banagher College 1-8

St Fergal's Rathdowney withheld a late but unsuccessful rally from Banagher College to earn a hard-fought win away to the Offaly school.

The victors built up a healthy first-half lead despite being reduced to 14 men in the ninth minute, when Daragh Quinlan got his second yellow card. St Fergal's led by 1-9 to 0-4 at the break, their goal coming from Gavin Dunne.

Banagher's Rian Kelly notched up 1-1 in the second half to give his side a lifeline, but the accuracy of Tadhg Dowling from placed balls was enough for Rathdowney, despite a late onslaught by the home side.
