Divilly tears awful Armagh to shreds

Kildare 7-30 Armagh 0-7

Kildare tore a dreadful Armagh asunder to cement their place in the final. In all, the home side had 10 individual scorers in a rout.

Paul Divilly finished with 4-8, Conor Kenny equalled Armagh's return with 1-4, while Danny Butler, David Harney and Leo Quinn were multiple scorers as well.

The game had degenerated into a practice session before the interval, at which stage Kildare led by 5-15 to 0-3. Martin Fitzgerald and Quinn found the net inside the opening 10 minutes as Quinn and Kenny picked off some eye-catching points.

Divilly notched up his first goal in the 15th minute and followed up with another 11 minutes later, while Kenny's goal on the stroke of half-time concluded the first-half scoring. Armagh did manage to quell the Kildare flow somewhat early in the second half, registering four of that period's first six points thanks to Ryan Gaffney, Paddy Heaney and Ciaran Reid.

They weren't to score again, though, as Kildare finished with 15 unanswered points.
