Deadeye Doyle downs Good Counsel

Kilkenny CBS 1-10 Good Counsel 0-7

An unanswered early salvo of 1-4 sent Kilkenny CBS on their way to a semi-final clash with St Peter's College, Wexford.

Philip Campion got the goal -- a scrambled effort -- and with free-taker Ciaran Doyle punishing Good Counsel's carelessness in the tackle, Kilkenny got off to a flier.

It was the 25th minute before Mark Mansfield's free got Good Counsel off the mark, and it was 1-6 to 0-3 at the break.

Kilkenny CBS started the second half with a pair of scores from Doyle, and Counsel lacked the penetration to seriously threaten a comeback, despite points from Gary Bennett, Mansfield and Peadar Cody.
