Borris VS cruised to victory over Abbey CC in this Leinster Vocational Schools clash at Ferrybank yesterday.
Against the wind, Borris led 1-9 to 1-5 at half-time. Eoin Kenny and Mark Russell had kept the hosts in touch to trail by 0-4 to 0-3 after the first quarter. However, Borris then hit a purple patch and when Barry Nolan struck for a goal after 24 minutes it opened up a gap of eight points.
The hosts replied swiftly as Kenny goaled on 27 minutes. The corner-forward contributed 1-2 in the first half to trim the deficit.
Nine points in a row after the restart settled the issue in favour of the Carlow school, who made it two wins from two.
Diarmuid Byrne racked up six points from placed balls and Michael Malone popped over two from play.
For Abbey, a brace of frees from Russell offered their only second-half response.
