Davy Fitzgerald has had contact from officials in Croke Park over his comments last week about referees being out to "get him".

Fitzgerald is understood to have received a phone call from a Croke Park official in relation to his post-match interview, which centred on his belief that more successful teams will always get the benefit of big calls from referees.

His comments were described as "ridiculous" by the outgoing national referees chairman Mick Curley, but the previous Central Competitions Controls Committee (CCCC) decided not to move against him last week because of uncertainty over their status as an outgoing body.

It now seems the new CCCC, headed by Clare man Simon Moroney, will not act either, but a call has been made to Fitzgerald to ascertain where he is coming from. The contact is not being seen as an admonishment for the Clare manager however -- but he has been asked to direct his concerns through the official channels in future.
