Cummins and Kelly omitted

Tipperary's two longest-serving players have been left off the team to face Kilkenny in the opening round of the Allianz NHL on Sunday.

Goalkeeper Brendan Cummins and former All-Ireland-winning captain Eoin Kelly will not feature from the start against the Cats as just seven of last year's All-Ireland final starting team are kept. There are debuts for Donagh Maher -- brother of Shane -- and Adrian Ryan.

With the retired Lar Corbett and injured duo Seamus Callanan and Patrick 'Bonnar' Maher missing, there are opportunities in attack for Pa Bourke and Brian O'Meara, while Brendan Maher is restored from the start at midfield where David Young will partner him.

Elsewhere, sharp-shooters Declan Hannon and Shane Dowling will be either side of new captain David Breen for John Allen's first NHL game as Limerick manager when they play Clare tomorrow night.
