BEATEN finalists last year and winners in the two previous seasons, Ardscoil Ris laid down a marker that they will again be difficult to beat in this campaign.
They were by far the better outfit in a one-sided affair in Bruff, with the scoreline flattering the losers, who managed only a single point from play. Scoring seven points in the opening 20 minutes, Ardscoil led 0-9 to 0-2 at half-time.
They had to play all but two minutes of the second half with only 14 players after corner-back Josh O'Halloran was shown a second yellow card, but they always remained in control.
Mark Buckley shone at full-back for the winners, while Colin Crehan and Cian O'Brien were both in fine form. Midfielder Darragh O'Donovan was best for Doon.
