Coyne gives Rossies breathing space

Roscommon 2-19 Monaghan 1-11

Roscommon pulled away in the second half to gain a comfortable win over a Monaghan team what finished with 13 men in Athleague.

Johnny Coyne pounced for the crucial second Roscommon goal two minutes into the second half. After trailing by just three points at half-time (1-9 to 1-6), Monaghan, who had Trevor Hillard and Mark Treanor sent off late on, lost their way.

The visitors got off to a dream start when Brian McGuigan scored a goal after two minutes but Roscommon hit back with Cillian Egan scoring a great individual goal after 14 minutes.
