Cork bring out big guns for opener

Published 24/01/2014 | 02:30

CORK hurlers will open their season tomorrow with seven of their starters from last year's All-Ireland final replay

Jimmy Barry-Murphy's men, who did not enter the Waterford Crystal competition as it clashed with their team holiday, face UCC in the Canon O'Brien challenge at the Mardyke at noon.

From their All-Ireland final team, goalkeeper Anthony Nash, defenders Shane O'Neill, Stephen McDonnell and Willie Egan, midfielder Lorcan McLoughlin and forwards Cian McCarthy and Patrick Horgan are included.

Stephen Moylan and Killian Murphy, who both came off the bench against Clare, also start.

Cork (SH v UCC) – A Nash; S O'Neill, S McDonnell, K Murphy; E Keane, M Ellis, W Egan; P Haughney, L McLoughlin; B Lawton, C McCarthy, M O'Sullivan; S Moylan, P Horgan, J Coghlan.
