Cork 4-16
Waterford IT 1-8
Waterford Crystal Cup SH Q/F

Jimmy Barry-Murphy

Cork advanced to the semi-finals as they accounted for WIT without too much fuss at Páirc Uí Rinn yesterday.

Jimmy Barry-Murphy's side were always in control once early first-half goals put them in a commanding position. In the 15th minute, with the Rebels leading by 0-3 to 0-2, goalkeeper Anthony Nash converted a penalty and then Jamie Coughlan added another goal soon after.

While Michael Sheedy's goal gave WIT some hope, they trailed by 2-10 to 1-4 at half-time. Cian McCarthy's frees helped Cork to keep the scoreboard ticking over on the restart, and Adrian Mannix added two more goals on 57 and 63 minutes, bringing his personal tally to 2-4.

Scorers – Cork: A Mannix 2-4, J Coughlan 1-4, C McCarthy 0-4f, A Nash 1-0 penalty, B Corry, D Kearney, S Moylan, R O'Shea 0-1 each. WIT: M Sheedy 1-3 (0-2f), E Murphy 0-2 (1f, 1 '65'), M Gaffney, H Kehoe (f), G Aylward 0-1 each.
