Cool Murray on target for Tipp

Tipperary 2-13
Kilkenny 1-13

FIRST-half goals from Tommy Heffernan and Sean Cleary proved crucial to Tipperary's victory at Semple Stadium on Saturday.

Kilkenny were reduced to 14 players two minutes from time when captain Padraic Gahan was dismissed for a second bookable offence.

Heffernan and Cleary had responded to Cormac Heffernan's early goal to hand Tipperary a 2-6 to 1-5 half-time lead before six second-half points from Premier County midfielder Stephen Murray helped them to pull away.
