Conway on hand to help Cork scrape by Treaty men

A goal and a point in the 80th and 81st minutes from Eoin Conway helped Cork to seize victory against Limerick at Pairc Ui Chaoimh yesterday.
When substitute Tom Crawford scored a goal for Limerick in the 77th minute, the visitors looked as if they would pull off a mild surprise, but, inspired by Conway, who notched an impressive haul of 1-12, Cork pulled it out of the fire to advance to a final meeting with Waterford.
Limerick trailed for almost all of the first half, but crucially went in at the break leading by 1-8 to 0-10 after Tommy O'Brien's point in injury-time.
Cork led by 0-7 to 0-3 after 15 minutes, but the sending off of Brian Lawton for a second booking hampered the Rebels and they lost their fluency.
Limerick drew level in the 20th minute when Liam Costello pounced after Don Hanley's delivery was not dealt with, and O'Brien's injury-time score left them a point up at half-time.
The second half remained even, neither side opening up a lead of more than two points. Cork's Conway and Mike Noonan of Limerick were accurate from frees, and the former's 62nd-minute point forced the match into the extra 20 minutes.
When Noonan was sent off one minute into extra-time and Cork forged two points ahead, it looked as if they would win easily, but Tommy Quaid's goal for Limerick kept them in the hunt. And after Richie McCarthy levelled in the second period and Crawford found the net, Limerick seemed set for victory before the late drama.
