For the second time in three days Clare captured a provincial hurling title.
On Sunday, the minor panel won their grade for the second year in a row, while last night at a sunny Cusack Park in Ennis, the intermediate squad defeated neighbours Limerick in an entertaining decider.
Despite the close final margin, this was a game that Clare deserved to win. They dominated for large periods and the experience of Niall Gilligan up front, especially in the second half, drove them on to a famous victory. The teams were locked at 1-6 apiece at the break, but Clare came out with all guns blazing for the second half and a quick Gilligan score put them back in front.
Ronan Keane's goal gave Clare an edge they would not relinquish in a fierce battle.
