Bowles brace keeps Cork IT on glory trail

Cork IT 4-13
Dublin IT 1-13

Cork IT cruised into the quarter-finals by dismantling the spirited challenge of Dublin IT in Cork, with the Leesiders producing a blistering second-half display which saw them outscore the visitors by 2-9 to 0-3.

Goals from Patrick O'Connor and Colin Fennelly, along with a brace from Michael Bowles, proved to be the difference, with DIT's only goal coming from Paul Ryan.

The boys in blue came out in the first half with all guns blazing. Ryan was the main threat, giving an exhibition of clinical free taking.

Starting the second period trailing by 2-4 to 1-10, CIT turned the game on its head as they bagged 1-4 without response in the opening seven minutes of the half.

One point from play and a brace of frees from Ryan was as much as the Dublin college could muster in the second half as the home side piled on late pressure.

This victory ensures CIT's place in the last-eight, where they will be joined by defending champions NUIG from Group B.
