Kilkenny have shown themselves to be adept at mixing business with pleasure and the double helping of Bruce Springsteen at Nowlan Park this summer netted the county board a cool €120,000.
'The Boss' packed the place for two concerts in July and played his part in helping the Board turn a net profit of €273,939 on the year.
Of course, things were helped by victory in the National Hurling League, which was worth nearly €130,000.
The board pour all the money generated through concerts into a development account for Nowlan Park. In the near 20 years since they linked up with promoter Jim Aiken to stage concerts in Kilkenny City, the fund has swelled to over €715,500.
