Barry-Murphy needs major Rebel revival

So Jimmy Barry-Murphy is to be the new Cork manager. Once Denis Walsh wasn't being reappointed and when JBM showed an interest in returning, it was always going to be a done deal. He'll do a great job, just as he did before, but whether or not he has the talent at his disposal to make another breakthrough remains to be seen.
As for Walsh, he's young enough to make a return at another time. He took over at a very sensitive stage in Cork hurling history, so it was always going to be difficult. The background to his appointment was troubled and the squad were losing altitude, although they did deliver an out-of-the-blue beating of Tipperary in last year's Munster championship. However, Tipp had more going for them over the long haul.
Walsh took on the job when a lot of others might have dodged it. It didn't work out in terms of winning titles, but then he could only play with the hand he was dealt.
