The appointment of the former Clare midfielder, who is a garda sergeant based in Tullamore, will be ratified at the November County Board meeting.

Baker has been building up significant inter-county experience since retiring as a player -- first as a selector with Clare under Anthony Daly and then as a selector with Mike McNamara before linking up with Dinny Cahill in Antrim last season. He will announce his selectors in the coming days.

Meanwhile , Davy Fitzgerald will be ratified as the next Clare manager at tonight's County Board meeting.

Fitzgerald's selectors may also be ratified at the same meeting, with strong speculation that former full- back Brian Lohan will join Louis Mulqueen and Mike Deegan on the Banner back-room team.
