THE curtain will come down on this year's inter-county camogie scene on Sunday when Cashel take on Athenry in the final of the All-Ireland club championship at the Gaelic Grounds, Limerick.
Cashel have never won the Bill Carroll Cup while Athenry's only claim to fame was back in 1977 when Midge Poinard was on the victorious side. She is manager of the current crop, which includes her daughter, Regina Glynn. Sinéad Millea, who won two senior All-Ireland medals with her native Kilkenny back in 1991 and '94, will captain the Tipperary side.
Cashel's Claire Grogan, who picked up her third All Star award last Saturday, would dearly love to add the only medal that is missing from her diamond collection. To realise this dream, she will need to be at her best to overcome the talented Jessica Gill who was awarded the Connacht Young player of the Year.
