Watching brief

GALAXY ROCK warrants a festive poke at 10/1 for tomorrow's Welsh National at Chepstow.

On his last two chasing outings, Jonjo O'Neill's seven-year-old has won handicaps at Cheltenham, and the form of his latest ready triumph in October is particularly impressive.

Third home then was the subsequent Hennessy hero Carruthers, with Fair Along, third at Newbury, back in sixth.

The fourth, Hey Big Spender, went on to take the Rehearsal Chase at Newcastle, all of which makes Galaxy Rock's nine-pound hike in the ratings appear entirely surmountable.

On just his eighth start over fences, he looks a progressive option.
