Watching brief

There are some decent sorts entered in the mares' novice hurdle at Cork on Monday, but maybe none quite so prodigious as Magen's Star.

Tommy Stack's 93-rated Flat horse took the breath away with a demolition job in what was an admittedly weak maiden on her jumping debut at Thurles last month, so it will be fascinating to see how the daughter of Galileo fares in this better company.

With pace to burn, the suspicion is that her rivals will be chasing shadows.
