Blackion could be the one in the Randox Health Grand National on Saturday and 14/1 looks a bit big, for all that it is not necessarily an appealing ante-post race.

A rating of 152 in the race leaves Blaklion on 11st at the moment, despite Gigginstown withdrawing its higher-rated horses in the National. This means he is tempting, considering how strong his novice form now appears to be.

Blaklion was a novice in the same season as Native River and Minella Rocco, both placed in the Gold Cup this season. He has class, an excellent attitude and deliberately avoided Cheltenham for the National.

Noel Fehily will steer the son of Kayf Tara, an uncomplicated ride, and he has only fallen once over fences. He produced a battling display in the trial for the National at Haydock and should give a good account.

Nigel Twiston-Davies won the race with Earth Summit in 1998 and again four years later with Bindaree.

BET: Blaklion in National, 1pt win 14/1
