Mall Dini looks worth a bet for the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir, the seventh race on day three of a Cheltenham Festival that is nearly upon us.

This newspaper understands he will get a rating of 143 from Phil Smith, near-identical to his Irish mark. It is possibly high enough for a horse yet to win a maiden chase.

Moreover, he made a bad mistake in his most recent start at Gowran, but he has recovered well after being a bit sore for a few days. He is now on course for Cheltenham and he has a few options.

However, he is expected to run in the Kim Muir, a race restricted to amateur riders. The seven-year-old won the Pertemps off 139 last year yet he really should improve a bit over fences, as he is as natural as it gets for a novice - hence, perhaps, why trainer Pat Kelly is happy to pitch him against senior chasers.

The 'non-runner, no bet' insurance means that he can be backed with confidence for the race. The key to Mall Dini seems to be nice ground, as is the case with some horses by Milan, and likely Cheltenham has been his principal aim all season. He is worth a wager.

BET: Mall Dini in Kim Muir, 1pt win 10/1 non-runner, no bet
