Upping The Ante

Champions Weekend was mixed for Aidan O'Brien - Churchill in the National Stakes and Alice Springs in the Matron his two winners.
Churchill did what was expected; Alice Springs was relatively unfancied and upset warm favourite Qemah with a swagger, showing a visually remarkable turn of foot in winning by over three lengths.
Alice Springs may have been flattered on what, remarkably, was her 14th start. However, she clearly takes her racing in her stride and O'Brien immediately targeted the Breeders' Cup after the race.
Alice Springs was touched off in the juveniles' equivalent at Keeneland last year when sent off 7/4. She is too big at 5/1 to go one better at Santa Anita. She could easily be sent off close to 7/4 again.
BET: 1pt Alice Springs to win the Fillies' & Mares' Turf, 5/1
