Take sizing to upstage star

The King George (December 26) revolves around Kauto Star even though his comeback victory at Down Royal last month earned mixed reviews. Whatever its merit, the four-time King George winner will be better served by Kempton's flatter track and likely better ground. Yet that doesn't translate to Kauto Star representing value at a best-priced 11/8.
To this eye, his Down Royal victory represented significant achievement. And, for that reason, I'm happy to row in with Sizing Europe (above), which finished a four-length runner-up to Kauto Star that day. Like the champion, Henry de Bromhead's chaser will operate better around Kempton's easy three miles. Good ground will also suit, but the biggest single influence will be the strong pace that Sizing Europe has yet to encounter this term.
A slick jumper at speed, last term's champion two-mile novice chaser has jumped without conviction in slowly run races on his last two starts. He looked comfortable over three miles most recently and with a decent gallop assured, he merits each-way support at 16/1. Also, back him in an each-way double with Maktu in the Welsh National on December 27.
