Ruby third on comeback

Ruby Walsh had to settle for third place as he made his long-awaited return from injury at Roscommon last night.

Sidelined for over four months with a broken arm, the champion jockey got the leg-up aboard the 8/11 favourite -- trained by his father Ted -- in a four-year-old hurdle.

But after his mount raced a little keenly early on, the odds-on shot had little left to give in the closing stages and plugged on to claim minor honours behind the Paul Flynn-trained Save My Blushes.

"The horse was too keen. It would have been better to drop him out or go on, but it's good to be back," Walsh said.
