Hobbs - rain would be a pain for Captain

Keith Hamer

Philip Hobbs is praying the forecast rain does not arrive at Punchestown ahead of tomorrow's Ryanair Novice Chase.

The Minehead trainer runs the likely favourite Captain Chris, who is bidding to follow up his victory in the Arkle Trophy at Cheltenham.

"He travelled over very well and I hope he has a very good chance, but I just hope the rain that they have forecast doesn't arrive. That would be the thing that would be against him," said Hobbs.

"He's been in very good form since Cheltenham, but what worries me is that they are forecasting rain on Wednesday night and tomorrow."

Captain Chris's Arkle triumph was given a boost when runner-up Finian's Rainbow won at Aintree.

The Arkle third, the Noel Meade-trained Realt Dubh, resumes rivalry after winning the Powers Gold Cup at Fairyhouse over Easter.

Saludos returns to the fray for Jessica Harrington after his win at Navan in February.

Osirixamix, Sweeps Hill and Cruising Katie complete the six-runner field.
