David Pipe has not totally ruled out a crack at the William Hill King George VI Chase with Grands Crus.
The seven-year-old looked a future chasing star last term before disappointing when only fourth in the RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
He was pulled up when sent off a short-priced favourite for the Paddy Power Gold Cup on his return and subsequently underwent a wind operation.
Pipe reports Grands Crus to be recovering well and has not totally abandoned hopes of running at Kempton on St Stephen's Day.
He said: "He's okay after the operation and is still in the King George, but he will need everything to go right until then."
Grands Crus is as low as 11/1 with some bookmakers for the Grade One Christmas showpiece.
