The 41-year-old was riding Rich Coast for his boss Noel Meade in the Allman Contracts Limited Beginners Chase when they came down at the first fence.

Course doctor Antonia Lehane confirmed Carberry had been taken to hospital in Tralee for further treatment, with the following race delayed by nearly 15 minutes as the rider was attended to.

In the same event, Robbie Power fell at the penultimate fence from Gambling Girl and was stood down for the rest of the day.

Gambling Girl's trainer Jesicca Harrington said: "Robbie got a kick in the back but he's all right. He's what I would call walking-wounded.

"He needs to get an X-ray on his back before he rides again."
