Palace can land apt triumph

Anita Chambers

Palace Moon can prove a highly apt winner of the Bridget Swire's Palace Affair & Sakhee's Secret Cathedral Stakes at Salisbury.

The six-year-old was bred by the late Miss Swire and his last win at Newmarket back in 2009 came in her colours.

Admittedly a winless streak stretching back the best part of two years is not a massive positive, but this Listed heat does not look to be the strongest in the calendar.

Palace Moon was not beaten far in two decent handicaps last term while he also came close to hitting the mark in Listed company at York.

He looked to need his comeback effort when a close-up fourth in a York Conditions heat, going from travelling well to lacking pace in a matter of strides. That performance still offers a spark of hope for trainer William Knight though and while Palace Moon is difficult to catch right, he has a decent squeak here.
