No joy for Geraghty in USA

Barry Geraghty flew to New Jersey for a fleeting visit on Saturday to partner Gordon Elliott's Eshtiaal but was foiled by his brother Ross.
Eshtiaal fell just short in his bid for a fourth successive win over flights in the American Grand National at Far Hills. The former Nicky Henderson-trained Dawalan was rated 30lbs superior to Eshtiaal here, and that quality told in the end under Geraghty's elder sibling, who has enjoyed great success in the States in recent years.
Back on terra firma at Cork yesterday, Geraghty and Elliott combined to take the novices' chase with Shadow Catcher (6/4).
That was Geraghty's second win of the day, after Arthur Moore's Gentleman Duke (7/1) rallied similarly to chin Henry de Bromhead's Crown Theatre to take the valuable handicap chase for a second year.
"We beat Henry a nose last year so we weren't too hard on him this year," Moore quipped after the half-length verdict.
