McCoy and Skelton in Cavan jump-off
AP McCoy's Doncaster legends' race triumph confirmed that the former perennial champion hasn't lost his competitive edge and he will again get to feed that hunger in a show jumping competition in Cavan on Sunday.
The event is being held at Cavan Equestrian in aid of Robbie McNamara, who is paralysed from the waist down following a fall at Wexford in April.
In excess of €10,000 has already been raised for an occasion that begins at 4.30 and has been titled Chasing Champions. Barry Geraghty, Richard Hughes, Nina and Paul Carberry and Charlie Swan will participate alongside McCoy, with British legend Nick Skelton leading the show jumpers.
There will be a €10 admission fee for adults and all proceeds go to the Robbie McNamara Trust. The competition has been organised in part by Robbie Power, who is himself facing up to month on the sidelines after fracturing a bone at the side of a vertebrae in a fall at Listowel on Saturday. Paul Carberry, 41, broke his leg in the same race and will be out for between four and six months.
