The 14/1 shot ended Lally's long wait for a winner, his last success coming in August 2005 when The Tinker Murray won a maiden hurdle at Naas.

Echoes Of History opened his account at the fifth attempt with an all-the-way win in the All-Ireland Hurling Weekend Maiden.

Sent off at 8/13 after filling the runner-up spot three times, David Wachman's chestnut proved much the best and came home seven lengths clear of Ideal Match.

Maal (9/4) ended a frustrating run of three seconds by getting his head back in front in the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Claiming Race, reeling in Blackwitch Woman to score by half a length.

A gamble on Azaboy in the Blue & Gold Maiden Hurdle went astray as Andrew Kinsella's five-year-old never got competitive in a race won by Flight Control (8/1) for the Michael Cullen stable.
