Lord reigns at Limerick
THERE was a popular winner of yesterday's Irish Independent Hurdle at Limerick as the Willie Mullins-trained Sweet My Lord took the spoils in style.
The 4/9 favourite -- part owned by RTE presenter Colm Murray -- set out to make all, and when jockey Emmet Mullins asked his mount to quicken approaching the last, the response was immediate as the partnership eased two and a half lengths clear of Wilde Wit Pleasure.
At Down Royal, the Gordon Elliott-trained Tharawaat got his chasing career back on track with a comfortable victory in the beginners chase.
The 8/11 favourite suffered a second-fence fall at Clonmel last time, but showed no ill-effects under Jason Maguire as he galloped to a five-length victory from Paradis De Thaix.
