Jim Bolger expects Trading Leather to come into his own next season as a four-year-old.
The Irish Derby hero has run his last race of 2013 after soft ground ruled him out of the Champion Stakes at Ascot this weekend.
Bolger is not tempted to take him abroad and is excited about what the future holds for the King George runner-up.
"There's nothing else for him this season, he's finished for the year," said Bolger.
"He was very impressive in the Irish Derby and ran well in the King George. When he gets his ground he's a very good horse, but I expect him to be much better next season.
"I don't think he was mature enough to do himself justice really this season and as a four-year-old, I expect him to be one of the best."
