Kieren Fallon is reported to be responding well to treatment in his battle to beat depression.

The six-times champion jockey was admitted to hospital in Ireland after his decision to retire from the saddle last month. The news was announced on his behalf by Irish Turf Club senior medical officer Dr Adrian McGoldrick, who remains in regular contact with Fallon.

"I saw him last week and he's doing very well," said McGoldrick. "His treatment is going fine and he's in extremely good form.

"I haven't seen him look as good in a long time."
