Haleniya digs deep for Curtis
Haleniya put a poor performance behind her as she ran out a gutsy winner of the 12-furlong maiden to trigger a double for John Oxx and Ben Curtis at Tramore last night.
The Azamour filly, running in the colours of the Aga Khan, showed promise in third on her Gowran debut a month ago, but failed to build on that when well beaten at Down Royal.
But here the 4/1 shot hit the front in the final two furlongs and dug deep for Curtis to hold the late surge of Templeton by a short head.
Oxx and Curtis doubled up when Missy O'Gwaun broke her duck with success in the www.thetote.com Handicap, when beating Llew Law by three and a half lengths.
Benefit Of Porter was well beaten by Clarach when they were first and second over hurdles at Galway, but turned round the form on the level in the Tramore Races Ladies Maiden. Helen Mooney got a willing response from Pat Sinnott's seven-year-old when entering the final quarter-mile to beat the favourite by seven lengths.
